In the 1850’s Norwegian Moravians established a settlement on the hills overlooking beautiful Eagle Harbor, calling it Ephraim, meaning — Twice Blessed. Familiar church steeples stand above the village as witnesses to that heritage. Charles Peterson pictures them here on a Sunday afternoon in his fine art print. Resting quietly under threatening skies as a sudden burst of sunlight offers a metaphoric promise of salvation, as well as real hope for a brighter tomorrow. You can see the steeples of the Moravian Church and the Lutheran Church 1 block north.
